We spend a couple days getting students used to the structure of the classroom. While there will be some traditional assessments throughout, this course is primarly project based.

General safety in the workplace. Topics such as:

  • Tripping hazzords
  • Frayed cords
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Schol emergency drills

Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO) enhance student learning through contextual instruction, leadership and personal development, applied learning and real world application.

Students will be able to identify and define key functional components and evaluate how the work together. By the end of this unit students should be able to pick out a computer that would meet their needs based off the intended use, such as for gaming, school, or photoshop.

We will explore the history of computing, from the first use of punchcards with an automated loom in the 1800s to modern day 5G cellular network.

Students implament computation thinking skills to help solve problems. The emphasis is learning how to take real-life situations and abstract—often to programs—so a computer can calculate the answer.

Students will now use those computational thinking skills to solve puzzelse using block based programming through code.org.

After students expore how websites are used to communicate and exchange data, they will build their own webpage using HTML to build the structure, and CSS to add style to the site.

We will take a look at the current job market and explore potential career paths.

Students will utilize their problem solving skills to build a program to navigte a robot through a maze.
